TESTBokurei Shodo class(Single lesson & cultural visa)

What’s Shodo?

Shodo(書道) is a form of calligraphy, or artistic writing, of the Japanese language. For a long time, the most esteemed calligrapher in Japan had been Wang Xizhi, a Chinese expatriate calligrapher in Japan during the 4th century, but after the invention of Hiragana and Katakana, the Japanese unique syllabaries, the distinctive Japanese writing system developed and calligraphers produced styles intrinsic to Japan. The term shodō (書道) is likely of Chinese origin as it is widely used to describe the art of Chinese calligraphy during the medieval Tang dynasty. (From wikipedia)

A wonderful experience, very interesting and the teacher was so helpful and friendly. Id recommend this to anyone who wants to try their hand at some traditional writing and a bit different to the usual sightseeing. I think my kanji turned out okay!

I had the best time learning shodo with Bokurei! She is a fantastic teacher. Very friendly, patient, encouraging. The room and atmosphere is lovely, with relaxing music playing. I had never done Japanese calligraphy before and don’t speak any Japanese, and I absolutely loved the experience. I booked an hour lesson for while I was staying in Osaka (very quick to get from). She told me really interesting details about the language, the characters, and taught me the basic strokes. I chose a word and she taught me how to write it, and then she translated my name into Kanji, which I wrote on my final piece of work. A really fun and interesting experience. 100% recommend

Our family had a great experience today at Bokurei. Our Japanese calligraphy class was full of explanations on the characters and where they come from. The artist was nice, patient and gave constant feedback to understand how to improve and why it is important. Great experience! Our 9-year old loved it just as much as the adults.

Helpful tip – it’s on the 7th floor
